Holiday/Christmas Programs

Each year, Mission for Area People partners with area churches, businesses and other service organizations to provide at least 100 Thanksgiving meals to families in need. Each family receives a basket with everything they need for a great home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner!

We take calls to register for Thanksgiving Baskets preceding Thanksgiving each year until we have 100 families. Call 231-733-9672 to register. Volunteers pack baskets early in the week of Thanksgiving, starting after Food Pantry hours. Basket Giveaway is the week of Thanksgiving. Pickup on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you would like to help fill these baskets in the future, we need the following items: Veggies, stuffing, cornmeal, canned fruit, Jell-O, muffin mix, boxed desserts mixes, frosting, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, margarine, and turkeys!

MAP offers a "Teen Town" Christmas with gifts for teens ages 15 to 18 years old. Children under fifteen are served well by Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army; however, they do not provide gifts for the older teenagers. Our Holiday Gift Shoppe volunteers will take orders of the gifts from the parents. Gift wrapping is available when requested.  Signup for Teen Towns will be the following dates/times:

Tuesday, December 1, from 9 am to 12 pm

Wednesday, December 2, from 1 pm to 4 pm

Thursday, December 3, from 5 pm to 7 pm

Tuesday, December 8, from 9 am to 12 pm

Wednesday, December 9, from 1 pm to 4 pm

Thursday, December 10, from 5 pm to 7 pm

Parents must provide a photo ID & DHHS printout of children in the home. Call our office for more information 231-733-9672.

Your support is very much needed each holiday season. You can help us make a difference in the lives of children in our community. Gifts, toys and monetary donations are appreciated and may be dropped off to our MAP office by Dec. 11, 2020.
